Who says everything needs an opposite? Some things have opposites because their absence creates a vacuum needing to be filled, such the absence of heat is cold or the absence of knowledge is ignorance. But other things don't create a vacuum in their absence. The opposite of a dog isn't a cat. Even though people often think of them as contraries the absence of dog doesn't automatically lead to cat. I don't think God has or needs an opposite the way that light is the opposite of dark. Regardless whether God exists or not, a supreme being cannot have an opposing quality ready to fill the vacuum of His absence. A possible devil opposes God, but the devil is not the opposite of God, only a being opposed to God.

The opposite of God is the Devil, just as the opposite of good is evil. Also you say hate is the opposite of love, and God is love.

P.S. I like the answer "George Bush" too. :)

The fact that we live in a world of polarities does not mean that God is necessarily the same way.

In any case, I wouldn't say God has an opposite so much as I'd stress that God is all things.

It depends on how you view God.

You could say Satan, if you're looking at God's benevolence.
You could say Nothingness, if you believe that God is in everything in existence.
You could say God, also if you believe that God is in everything, because if God is one thing, he would therefore be another, and most likely, thus, an opposite of something he also is.

Yeah, reasoning tends to create holes in the universe.

God, in most theologies I've studied is a paradox. He is all knowing, but provides us with choice. He is all powerful, but cannot contradict reality. He is everything, yet no one has proof of his existence.

The opposite of God, that which cannot exist in reality, is reality itself.
