The German Air force was the Luftwaffe.as they said before.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
The Luftwaffe were also in the battle of Stalingrad bombing the town before the German artillery and infantry got there. hoping to kill every one there, but surprisingly there was plenty of forces in Stalingrad after the bombings to kill tens of thousands of German solders. the only real opposition the the planes were the Russian planes.

It was and is called the "Luftwaffe". It is a mere description of what the force is; "Luft"-- flying or aerial; "waffe"-- weapons
