I went to the doctor's today because I read some signs on preterm labor (I am 34 weeks) and I had a couple, ex: diarhea, nausea, whitish liquid where you can feel it trickling out. So my Docs wanted me to rush in there! So they put me on a machine which measures contractions and the baby's heartbeat and after that they said I was just fine! Then of course they wanted to check exactly what I was leaking. My Doctor said that I was leaking alot of mucus (so the mucus plug is coming out) and then he asked my due date (Jan 15th) and he said, "well really count on her being out before then?"

So my question to you is, has your doctor ever said anything like that? And how fast do you think she could be here?

My doctor told me at my 39 week appt that she would see me before the weekend (I was due on saturday and it was wednesday) because she was SURE I was going into labor. I was dilated, at -2 station and about 50% effaced. Well, what do ya know....I made it all the way to the next week's app and was induced three days after that! Doctor's might have a feeling or something, but unless it's a c-section or induction....they don't know when your baby will want to meet the world! You might have three days or go past your due date! There is no way for anyone to know!

Iam due Jan 22nd and just spend 3 hours in the hospital last night with the same deal you had.

Actually, all i had were contractions and a lot of liquid, so much that it was trickling down my leg.

They did everything they did for you, and found that I wasnt leaking anything, still closed up like fort knox, and that the contractions were regular braxon hicks and not productive.

They told me Iam fine and in no danger of going into labor before i should.

I'd say your doctor was trying to encourage you that you're not going to have the baby too early. Its amazing how much regular mucus discharge you can have.

The plug isnt white, its like gel and have streaks of blood in it. So all the white discharge is normal for pregnancy... i just wasnt used to watery liquid and such a volume of it.

So long as you're closed up still, and the contractions arent productive I wouldnt worry about it. Its hard to tell whats going on some times, it seems like your body is so alien during these months... lol.

I know what youre going through.

Never can tell, but I had my 3rd baby at 34 weeks and all was great. He was healthy and didnt need any special attention. So try not to worry about that. Ask your doctor about Steroid shots that will help develop the babys lungs just to be safe. That is always the best way to go, just in case you were to end up having the baby in a few days... Good Luck!

Well i wasn't in that exact situation but I had lost my mucus plug a month early.Or I should say I lost it and it took me a month more until I had her. That is just me.All i could say to you is to just be aware of your body.Don't do too much stuff to put a strain on yourself and I hope for the best for you. ;)
