I'm trying to learn how to belt out the notes for the song Defying Gravity from Wicked. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the notes better? Also, I'm also trying to hit the sort of opera notes in some of Galinda's songs. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do that?

Okay, Kristin Chenoweth (who played Glinda in Wicked) went on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and taught Ellen how to sing, by breathing through a straw.

go to youtube.com & search Kristin Chenoweth.
Then there should be some videos like Kristin on Ellen or something like that. It helped me out!!
I hope this helps!

I'm not familiar with the songs, but I am a singer and the best way that I've found to hit notes that seem unreachable is to drink a cap-full or two of lemon juice before your performance/practice. The acidity helps to tighten your vocal cords so that you are more in control of your pitches and reduces the chance of the inevitable "voice crack." Hope this helps!
