I have a pain that is mostly under my left shoulder blade. When I turn my head, the pain goes up to my neck. It is a burning pain, simiar to puled or torn muscles, but I haven't done anything that would have caused it. I took Ibuprophen, but it had no effect. Any ideas on what it is or how to treat it would be greatly appreciated. I've had this pain for 5 days now and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Does anyone know how long a pulled muscle takes to heal?

yep you can pullt and strain muscles without doing anything you believe to be strenous. do you crack your own neck...that'll cause that occasionally. sleeping in a bad position may also contribute. also if you're constantly not doing anything extrenous then your muscles weaken and an activity which may not seem strenuous might cause the same problem because your muscles arn't strong enought to handle the stress bring places upon them.

Get to a Chiropractor for an adjustment. It sounds like a pinched nerve. Sometimes something can shift in your sleep and pinch a nerve and cause so much pain. Occasionally the L7 (I think) between my shoulder blades goes out, it effects the nerves and muscles around to your stomach. When it is out a few days, I finally start vomiting, which seems strange that a vertebrae can cause nausea.

I personally hate taking any medicine that I do not have to have . With the Chiro you can be well in a very short period of time. I have gone to mine for 28 years (my family also) He has repaired nearly every inch of my body at one time or another.

One or two adjustments should solve the problem. I'm guessing you have never been to a Chiropractor since you haven't done it yet.

Do it soon and feel better!

Yes it is completely possible most likely your muscle could have had a spasm or expanded and could have contracted around another muscle creating the pain you experienced. I experienced this burning sensation in my middle back. I ended up seeing a chiropractor for a dislocated jaw and whe did an x ray on my back as well. She found several compacted discs in my spine that were pinching the nerves creating that burning sensation. After six months of bi weekly visits the burning that I had suffered for 10+ years was gone! Completely Her visits alleviated a great deal of pain and also corrected my slumped over posture. Hope this helps....ALSO put a cold pack on it. HEAT EXPANDS the muscles COLD CONTRACTS......

I did once. I was playing a gentle game of basketball and pulled a groin muscle. Of course it wasn't my own, but it was uncomfortable just the same.
