I am now renting a home that has a deck along with it. The wood has a dull gray coloring (faded). I was wondering how I could revitalize it so the color is back and how to best protect it in the future.

Deck experts tell you NOT to powerwash, but to use a floor sander. Powerwashing actually damages the wood.

You can buy solutions to spray on the deck. You let them sit and scrub them a little with a broom brush. Then you hose it off, wait a couple days for drying, and put a deck stain/sealant on.

First, be SURE to powerwash it. That alone will bring amazing results. Then you want to stain it with a UV protected stain.

They sell a varnish with a stain in it, it works quite well.
