I am a Christian who also loves a good story. The idea in fiction is to write things that are NOT true to make them SOUND true. How is this a problem with the DaVinci Code?
People need to relax!!

Well when you get into religion it can be pretty offensive.

While I agree with you, I can see how the Catholic community would take offense about the book. It really does come down hard on the Catholic church, even if it is fiction. If it had been my church that was as underfire as the catholic Church was in that book, I would not have enjoyed it. I may have taken issue. You really have to admit, that he really did say a lot of bad things about the Catholics. And then he refutted the divinity of Christ. That is where Christians take offense.

I do agree with a few of the points made in the book, but not all. Like, I have have thought, even before the book, that Mary and Jesus were Married. I don't think there were children though. I don't agree with the whole sacred feminine thing though, maybe a few of the points, but that is all.

I think they just need to remember that it is fiction, but I can see how offense was taken.

I know what you're saying! I'm a Christian, and I wasn't really offended by it.

I think the reason many Christians were offended is because they think a lot of people thought it was true. Maybe they think it's going to be harder to witness to people because of this movie or something. Also, some may have seen it as just some small thing, but are afraid it could lead to other things.

What I think is that people shouldn't get so caught up with fiction, but look at what's happening in reality. That's what's important.

I liked it. It actually caused me to relate to why religions are always defending their information. It also has SOME truth in that movie and book, about the Pagans and their symbols being stolen by the Church.

Yes it's a good story, some find it to be extremely offensive for no reason, and yet others, having heard fo the controversy of the movie, dismiss it as just another movie.

It's all about perspectives of those minds who are affected the more than others that cause the world to be in the shape it is now, only to get worse down the line.

I thought the movie was very good. It never offended me in any way and I am Catholic.
I thought the story was just that, a story. It made me think . Thinking is not a bad thing to do.
Everyone sees different things in movies and I am sure that there are people who did not like the premise of this one. Not everyone has an open mind.
All I can say is get over it. It is a movie for pete's sake. Not the bible.

First of all, Dan Brown says in the beginning of his book that certain things are "fact" when in fact they are fiction. For example, the Priory of Sion was not founded in the middle ages, it was founded in 1956 and it is officially registered in France. Dan Brown claims that a lot of things are fact when they are actually fiction. Furthermore, Dan Brown blends fiction with fact and some people who don't know about church history actually believe what the DaVinci code says is true. Furthermore, "The DaVinci Code" is just plain blasphemous. www.equip.org

People find it offensive because Davinci code is playing around with very sensitive issues.

I agree, this is just a made-up story. People say that Dan Brown is saying in his book that God does not exist. This is just a story people! I believe that God exists but i still read the book. Is there something wrong with that? Its a fictional story made for the readers enjoyment. That's all!

I agree with that. People get offended because they think that the idea of Jesus not being a virgin is horrible. They think that this wonderful book/movie is the end to Christianity. Seriously people do need to relax. Nobody really knows about his sexual life. It's a mystery.

Well unlike you, a lot of people don't possess the intelligence necessary to understand the difference between entertainment and a slap in the face. They are ignorant, so let them complain until they find something new to complain about.

Ask a muslim ..would they be offended if someone made a movie and said the whole story of muhammed was just made up!

For one ...they would never make a movie that insulted the muslims in this way...they know what the consequences would be both from the muslims and from pc hollywood. But it was perfectly okay to slap the Christian religion right in the face! Its called a double standard !!
