I have been checked and I do not have a UTI (urinary tract infection). I also do not have any std's. The burning sensation is awful and the only way to relieve it is a hot hot bath (I never take baths ... only when it's for this) I am careful never to use any scented products. Does anyone know what this burning is from? I also have IBS with constipation pretty bad. I have tried to associate the burning around different things i.e. menstruation or when my IBS is bad.
Please only serious answers.

There are a few things that can cause this sort of problem aside from the possibility of bladder infections etc.
First of all it is important that you drink enough water. I know this sounds simle but it is amazing how often people do not do this or think they are but aren't. If you don't drink enough water your urine can become concentrated and this can cause burning on urination. It also makes it more uncomfortable to have sex as the vagina looses some of its natural lubrication.
You need to drink 7-8 glasses per day without exercising. If you exercise you need to increase that, and for every drink of tea, coffee, coke etc anything with caffine or alcohol in it you need to drink two glasses of water for every one glass of the other. Juice and soft drinks are not water and you need to drink some water for each of these.
We also often mistake thirst signals for hunger signals as we can accidentally train ourselves to mistake one for the other. So except for meal times it is a good rule of thumb to have a glass of water everytime you feel hungry and then if you need to eat afterwards you can.
The other common thing that can cause burning on urination is allergy to soap. Have you changed the soap that you are using or the soap that you are wasing your clothes in. If so try going back to the old one or if it is the soap you are washing your clothes in try using a panti liner for a few days. This can really make a difference. It removes the soap away from direct contact with your mucous membranes and can relieve the problem.
Make sure that you use soaps that have no colours or perfumes or better still try a sorbolene based soap.
If neither of these work then it is time to go back to your doctor and get re tested. It is rare but possible for an infection to turn up after you feel the symptoms. You can also have your doctor do some more invasive tests looking for things like kidney stones but if they are present you should have had a bit of blood in your urine and possibly calcium as well. The dip sticks that your doctor should have used to tell you that you had no infection should also have told him if you were likely to have kidney stones.
Based on your IBS symptoms I would think that water is your most likely problem as dehydration also causes constipation, some people just need to be more careful about drinking enough water than others.
Good luck.

I have IBS as well, and had a similar problem when I had a blockage in my kidneys. May not be what is causing it though. A friend of mine had the burning for several days leading up to a kidney stone passing. Good luck, I hope you find out what it is. Definitely make your dr. check more thoroughly...this is not normal.

I am surprised that the doctor didn't give you anything such as a salve to put on. Some people find using Noxzema helps protect from unusually acid urine or maybe petroleum jelly might help coat the area.
Also have an ultra sound for kidney stones.

Sounds like a bladder infection to me. If the doctor won't give you anything , start drinking cranberry juice. You may want to be checked by another doctor. They make mistakes and misdiagnosis' all the time.
