I have an LG phone with pay as you go but would now like to switch to a contract. Can I keep the same phone and number and do I have to just change the Sim to whatever provider I want for the contract? This mobile phone business really confuses me!

You can keep the phone and number if you wish but you will get a free new phone with a contact. You can sell this if you wish.

To keep the number you have, contact your current service provider and ask for a PUK code. This is free. Then purchase your new contract and get the number transfered. This can take between 5-7 working days for the number to be transfered.

You can get cheap new contract phone from here. They are part of the carphonewarehouse group and very cheap. Cheaper then the highstreet stores.

There are a number of ways of doing this.

1) Contact your current provider and ask them 2 look at what you have been spending on PAYG and to recomend an appropriate pay monthly talk plan. If you opt to take this out they can convert you and you keep your current sim & phone and can take an upgrade and get a new phone or forfit this and request a line rental discount.

2) You can walk into any highstreet shop and take out a new deal on any network but your own. Prior to doing this call your current provider and ask for your PAC code (this is to transfer your mobile number) when you take out your new contract you will at first get a new number after you advise you have a PAC a week later you current number will change over.

Hope this helps

whats up John, All telephone contracts are concern to a credit verify so Vodafone will would desire to try this formerly you may bypass any extra. genuinely, this is uncomplicated to alter to a settlement from PAYG offering you bypass the credit verify as you're no longer tied right into a PAYG tariff for a undeniable volume of time. Vodafone would have the skill to tell you no count in case you p.c. a clean SIM yet whether you do, the difficulty to alter is minimum by way of fact the recent SIM will come including your settlement telephone. back, Vodafone would have the skill to tell you in case you may shop your huge style and clarify the technique to shifting your huge style for the time of if so. understand that shifting a magnificent determination can take some days so be arranged to apply a non everlasting huge style at the same time as the flow occurs! desire this facilitates :) Louise

If you keep the same provider, you probably won't even have to change SIM cards. If you go to another provider, use up all your minutes but 1 minute. You have to keep your line active. Then with number portability you can take your phone number with you to the new carrier. If you had minutes on your pay as you go account, you will lose them. That's why I suggest using them up but 1 minute first so it's enough to keep it active and you're not wasting your minutes you already had built up. If you want to keep your physical phone, you will have to get it unlocked if you want to use it on another carrier. Your phone most likely will reject another carriers SIM without being unlocked first.

Yes you can take your number, and you can change network too. You need to obtain a code from your existing network if you want to switch. The mobile company will talk you through the rest. If you don't feel confident with what they are telling you then say so- they want your business so they should be trying very hard to please!
