That's your decision. My husband is not circumcised, and he hates it. Doesn't bother me none, but he wants our baby boys circumcised, because he wishes his mother had him done.

I've not had a son yet, but when I do he will be circumcised at birth. This is because I believe it makes cleaning and hygiene so much easier. I also helps to prevent infections and foreskin problems like phimosis.
I did a lot of babysitting for little boys when I was younger - caring for circumcised boys just seemed more enjoyable.
In my own family my brother didn't get circumcised at birth. When he finally got it done at the age of four he was very upset and sore for a full week. At the end of the day, it is a matter of personal choice but if you do decide to circumcise, it is best done as soon after birth as is practicable.

I am a nurse, I would cercumsie my child and did my husband is circumsized. It helps prevent infections. If you do not clean the baby right you can get an infection. Any way i have seen so many problems when a child is not circed or when they get it done later in life.

Yes. I think a baby boy should be circumsized at birth. No, the doctors don't give any freezing..... But, it only lasts a few minutes.... and when he gets older, he won't remember anything. Also, it is supposedly supposed to help prevent possible infections. My son was circumsized at birth.
Also, cosmetically, it might save him some embaressment when he gets older to be circumsized than NOT to be.

My husband and I went back and forth on whether or not to circumsize our son. We decided, in the end, to let our son decide when he was old enough. From all the research we found, it is medically unncessary. There is literature stating that men who are not circ'd have higher incidences of HIV and UTIs, but the numbers are VERY VERY small.
If you look at the history of circumcision, boys were cut to prevent them from masturbating and feeling senstive in that area. The US is one of the few countries in which boys are circ'd on a regular basis.
More and more parents are becoming educated on this topic and there is a trend in some areas not to have their boys cut. If you ever watch one being done, you might decide against it. Why should you cut off a piece of your son's body for completely unnecessary reasons? We leave our daughters intact, we should leave our boys intact too.

Would you have your son's appendix taken out at birth to prevent possible infection? Appendicitis is more common than serious penile infections. You are welcome to have your child circumcised, just understand that it is a cosmetic procedure. The American Academy of Pediatrics does not recommend routine circumcision, the decision is left to the parents for personal reasons. Personally, I can't see myself allowing anyone to cut off a perfectly healthy body part of my infant child. But, that's just me.

It is your choice but I would have to say that it is a good thing. I did tons of research on circumsizing before my son was born and most doctors would agree that it cuts down on infection and when it comes time for potty trainging you don 't have to show them how to pull back the extra skin so they don't pee on themselves. Also when it comes time for bath time you have to teach them how to pull that skin back and clean their lil area. which can be difficult. My son is circumsized and the only special care we had to do was make sure we put a medicated lotion on the cut and put lots of vasilen on then put gaze on it. Yeah he was uncomfortable but it was only for 3 days. Then everything came off and he was healed. And in all honesty if you son decideds later on in life that he doesn't want to be circumsized all he has to do is go to a doctor and the doctor will help him regrow it. Check it out do a search on Circumsizion. It will help

I looked it up on babycenter.com and there ARE some health benefits to having it done. My son was a preemie (Almost 3 months early) and he was in the hospital for 10 weeks. They don't do it at the Children's hospital so a few weeks after he came home I had his pediatrician do it. He had several UTIs while in the hospital and since I had him circumcised he has not had any.

Its a pretty hot topic...you need to make your own decisions. I had my son done at 12 days old by a specialist in the field. I researched it a lot and decided that it was best...less risk of infection and disease. I didn't figure my son would be vigilant enough to clean himself properly.

I could not do that, no. The lady next to me had her kid';s done and he wailed and cried for 2 days in thwe hospital, poor baby. Mine slept straight through because I did not have someone chop at his lil willy.
Also w/circumcision it's a surgical site prone to infection and needing special care. Without it you can diaper up no muss no fuss.
I had a cousin who had a BOTCHED circumcision, painful erections, crappy sex life, ugh...
Bottom line NO, they can opt to get it done themselves when they are older if they choose. I feel that it is genital mutilation even though it is routine, it is still genital mutilation.

Yes. If you are going to circumcise a baby you should do it at birth, not when they get older.
It is considered cosmetic now, and many people are now not circumcising their children.
Personally, I am for circumcision. I think that it is cleaner, makes it easier when potty training, and studies have shown that it lowers the risk of contracting STD's.
