My sister says manson is a emo and i disagree,she compares him to AFI , who is right in this discussion

My sister compares Manson to a band i believe to be emo (AFI) while i think of him as more industrial metal or something like that,she calls him an "extreme emo"Can someone please help me with this discussion?

First of all, emo starts with a vowel (the letter e is a vowel). Therefore, the correct phrase is "an emo." Second, emo is not a noun. It is an adjective, so the phrase "a(n) emo" is incorrect. The correct wording of your question should be "Is Marilyn Manson emo?
That being said, Manson is not considererd emo. When he/they first broke out into the mainstream, they're music was considered "industrial." AFI used to bepunk rock, but they have changed they're style. There is no real "emo sound," as emo is just short for emotional, which is pretty vague. But to answer your question, no, Manson is not normally considered emo.

Marilyn Manson Is industrial rock / alternative metal. And when AFI first started coming around they were Hardcore Punk, Even though they have changed a little over the years, They are still Not emo.
Marilyn Manson and AFI...Completely different. You sister knows nothing about music.

hell no marilyn manson is industrial metal and has been around since those emo kids were still in diapers. marilyn manson started playing as marilyn manson and the spooky kids back in1989 after interviewing trent reznor of nin fame and started putting a band together .his first release portrait of an american family came out in 1994. marilyn manson is metal. and afi are not emo either. they startedout in 1993 on nitro records.they are gothcore which is gothic metal and hardcore like type o negative you should stop listening to all these commercial fads and stop pigeonholing groups because you have no clue what you are talking about. try some of these bands out and stop listening to something because you heard a song on the stupid radio and everyone else likes it.

Marilyn Manson is emo? HA you gave me a good laugh for the day. If u said goth...then MAYBE I'd be like ok. AFI aint emo either. so to answer your question....neither band is emo.

Manson ISN'T emo, he's goth. BIG difference, AFI is like, THE Emo band. Manson is total Goth. Huge difference though.
