I think it would be personal choice. I personally would like to die kin with kin. But some people and probably the majority when they know they are about to die they like to go alone in peace.

But there are some who will hold on until they are with family members. There are even some who refuse to die and suffer until there family tells them that it is alright they can go rest in peace now.

It's personal choice. My guess is most people want to die at home. I think I'd rather die in a hospital where everybody's waiting on me and they've got good drugs.

I would say whatever you felt was right.

I am of the opinion that the soon-to-be-deceased's wishes should override anyone else's - out of respect. I don't think that kind of decision should be in anyone else's hands.
