I totally agree with you. The Senate really needs term limits. There is such an generational gap with those people serving and everyday Americans. I don't think the Founding Fathers envisioned people making a living as a politician. It's called civil service for a reason. Serve a little while then go back to your community and really contribute in a positive way.

I'd like to see citizens more involved at the level of our politicians. Not sure how to implement it though. Maybe 2 regular, everyday working people from each state who get lottery picked to go to Washington and oversee the actions of our leaders.

And as far as term limits, I am in favor. Seeing as ad campaigns done by Hollywood class production companies seem to be a great deal responsible for who gets elected, and seeing as the number of people who actually get out and vote has diminished, it makes sense to me. You just get more of the same the way it is structured. They wait till the last year or so and then it's a flurry of meaningless, feelgood activity to impress the constituents.

Politics is a career, not a short term situation. You do what you know. I am in transportation, but I don't expect them to tell me, "you've done enough in transportation. Time to go find something else."

If you are unhappy with a politician, vote them out. The chance comes for change every few years! Obviously, somebody is happy with the job they are doing, if they are still there.

The entire system would then have to be reworked. Many politicians are reelected, not because of issues, but because of what they can bring back ($$) to their home region or state. They move up the ranks and the higher the get in leadership, the more money they can earmark. It would take a fundamental change in the way Washington does business and none of them are ready to do that.

I woudl agree, as you alwyas get fresh blood and fresh ideas all the time.

My only concern is that you have someone who was a Representative for three terms (6 total years) shift over to be a senator for two terms(12 total years) so they are still hanging around

You've got that right! The career politician should be put to rest!

We didn't send them there to make intelligent decisions. We sent them there to represent us! Is this country still here?

Politicians set the term limits. Do you think they will restrict themselves?
