It depends on what kind of accounting you're thinking about. I make roughly $40,000 per year, but work in a very laid back office. My best friend makes maybe $70,000 per year but works in an office with lots of stress and politics. My sister in law probably makes $100,000+ working in the stock market (which is generally more finance-geared, but she's got her bachelor's in accounting....) but is way stress filled. And finally, I know another accountant who has her associate's degree and is classified as a bookkeeper (but does a lot of accounting work) that only makes $25,000.
