tree is not up yet; but we use a light-up Angel at my house. :o)
Have you ever heard the rumor about how the Angel became a tradition on a Christmas Tree?
Santa was very cross. It was Christmas Eve and NOTHING was going right. Mrs. Claus had burned all the cookies. The elves were complaining about not getting paid for the overtime they had while making the toys. The reindeer had been drinking all afternoon and were dead drunk. To make matters worse, they had taken the sleigh out for a spin earlier in the day and had crashed it into a tree.
Santa was furious. "I can't believe it! I've got to deliver millions of presents all over the world in just a few hours - all of my reindeer are drunk, the elves are on strike and I don't even have a Christmas tree! I sent that stupid little angel out HOURS ago to find a tree and he isn't even back yet! What am I going to do?"
Just then, the little angel opened the front door and stepped in from the snowy night, dragging a Christmas tree. He says, "Yo, fat man! Where do you want me to stick the tree this year?"
And thus the tradition of angels atop the Christmas trees came to pass.

I alternate each year between a star and an angel. I like them both very much, so that's the way I came up with using both.
Happy Holidays! This year we'll be using a star.

I have an fiber-optic angel that lights up on the top of my tree. She is holding a candle with stars around them. So I guess I knocked it out both ways.

i prefer an angel...i have an angel...but stars are still nice too i suppose they are traditional ...some people have bows too but i suppose it depends on peoples personal preferences....as you can see everyone has their own reasoning...but i think just having a tree is good enough no matter whats on top

As a child had an angel and therefore continue the tradition in my own household, but also like to see a star. Angels remind me of the Angel Gabriel and the star of the wise men and shepherds who saw it in the east, so both highlight what the Chrismas season is truly all about.

An angel. I prefer to think of her guarding our tree for Jesus birth. We did have a tin foil star growing up though - to light the way.... Either is good.
