Take your baby to the emergency room now. It sounds like pneuomia because you describe the barky cough. It can be fatal and you had better take care of it right away.

Croup is a common respiratory problem characterized by a harsh, barking cough. Croup most often affects young children. It causes inflammation, swelling, and narrowing in the voice box (larynx), windpipe (trachea), and breathing (bronchial) tubes that lead to the lungs.
Home treatment, such as using a cool air humidifier, is normally all that is needed to treat mild to moderate croup. Usually symptoms gradually improve within 2 to 5 days.
If your child has severe croup or has not responded to home treatment, medications may be used to decrease airway swelling. These are usually given in a doctor's office or an emergency room.

There is a 10% chance that it's nothing, but a pretty good chance that it's croup. You want to taker the baby to his/her doctor now or if the office is closed drive to an urgent are type place right away, before they close too. You don't want to get into the night and wish you'd gone.

Definitely see doc ASAP! Until then, if you are in a cold climate, the cold outdoor air also helps calm the cough. Don't stay out too long at a time: just a few minutes should help.

Nasal / chest congestion, or sinus drip.
No milk -( ok for formula )
Elevate the head when she sleeps so the nose can drain,
and depending on the age, give her robitussin.
if the house is dry from the heat, use a humidifier. or vaporizer.
place it near her crib.
and i like to bathe my kids before bed, it seems to loosen up the mucus. helps them sleep better, drains the nose.
lastly, this may sound disgusting but i blow my kids noses.
they don't like it but it do it any ways,
i put my mouth either on their mouth and blow till snots come out
( holding a tissue over her nose )
or i wipe her nose and blow air into her nose and the mucus goes in her throat.
she coughs and then its over with.
gross but i would rather, this than hear her suffering barking all night long.
plus my kids puke when they cough to hard.

Baby may be congested, try cold/flu medicine. Rub "vicks" on chest and upper back. Gently pat back of back like a drum to loosen any congestion. DO NOT give baby any milk or orange juice it build phlem. Try Pedi-lite in case of dehydration or any other juice (delute it first, i would say half juice half water) baby may vomit, but it is a good thing, baby is getting congestion out. Keep baby well hydrated. Masssage body to sooth baby
TAKE BABY TO DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE...

Sounds like croup. While you're getting your doctor on the phone, take him in the bathroom shut the door and run the shower as hot as it will go. But call the doc right away, too they'll want to monitor his condition.

Have you been to a doc? They say that if it sounds like a bark that cool air helps calm it down. Depending where you live if you can take them out in the cool air it helps calm down the swollen bronchial tubes. If there is problems breathing, go to the er now!
