10 feet 0 inches is the standard height for almost all basketball programs from pros down through kids. The possible exception is some young kids leagues use lowered baskets. For your 9 y.o. daughter you could get an adjustable hoop, but I would suggest staying with 10 feet, unless she doesn't have the strength to get the ball that high. When my daughter started (CYO league) in 4th grade, almost all the girls could cope with the 10 ft hoop.

Basketball hoops do not have height to them they are about a quarter inch thick, but however they are located 10 feet off the ground when its put on the board.

10 feet exactly and u should probably get an adjustable hoop, that way she can lower it down if the height is too much for her...plus it's always fun to dunk...;>)....
