Spain has a small region that happens to be farther south than Portugal (It is called Andalucia). Although, there are also the Canary Islands off the west coast of Africa that are part of Spain which are much farther south than Portugal.

Portugal is exactly parallel to Spain, Portugal is west of Spain not north or south from it, being Spain larger that Portugal, you may say that Spain will have some cities that geographically are south er than Portugal, search for a political map on line
