You could get a mobile broadband card, which you could buy from a couple different cell service providers. I believe Sprint, Verizon, Cingular and a couple others offer this service. Out of the three I listed, I believe that Sprint is the cheapest. Verizon is the most expensive.
Or you could even use your cell phone as a dial up modem for a laptop, but thats a whole different question.

you want to get a router to allow more desirable than one computer to apply the DSL modem. do not waste some time on dial-up. With at present's internet, the pages are great, the downloads are even higher, and no one opt for s to attend 10 minutes purely to work out their living house web page. Get a on the spot router in case you may't run a cable to the basement. Get a on the spot adapter on your computer if it does no longer have on the spot already. you should mess round slightly to locate a reliable region contained in the basement that you'll receive the signal, yet you need to be able to without too a lot hardship.

You can have it installed IF you're going to have a phone (most of us just use cell phones nowadays). Unless you need it for a fax machine.

I would suggest cable since most of us DO get cable TV.

All providers have their good and bad. Not sure what area you are in and what's available. I have Time Warner but not by choice. Their service, if you need anything, sucks big time.

You can get cable Internet access without a phone. You may also be able to share access if you have a neighbor who has a wireless router or is willing to run an Ethernet cable to your apartment.

You could get cable internet, but how on earth does an apartment come without a phone jack? it is no longer a luxury, but a necessity of life! (and I hate the phone)

The phone company can put one in, if you like dial-up with your phone service. Or, you can get internet hook-up through your cable or satellite tv service. I'm using our local telephone company, I can't say who's better.

First you have to have the proper modem in your computer. Bellsouth, Verizon and others off such service. Check for best price.

How can you not have a phone jack in your apt? You can't get the internet without it, so get a phone jack first.

I have AOL and peoplepc.

Make a big aerial and attach it to your head and then stand on the top of your tent and wave your arms around
