i have had both a d&c and natural miscariage. i found doing it naturally helped with the loss it made it seem real as something was happening. after the d&c i was in shock and found it difficult to grieve. they also didnt completely remove it and i miscaried naturally anyway a week later.
go with it naturally. it will take a while but it will help for closure and coming to tterms with what happened. it took seven weeks the second time i miscarried. in that time i accepted what had happened and was able to move on.
ive never had infections from either and i have been given antibitics after d&c which were quite hard on my body.

I had miscarriage in the beginnng of October. I was eight weeks along but the ultrasound measured just five-ish weeks but there was fetal movement/heartbeat. But it was very slight. Anyway, two weeks later when I went for an ultrasound there was no fetal movement, and the fetus had not survived. The doctor suggested I get a d&c so I did. But during the d&c she punctured my uterus and she could not finish the procedure. So she told me just to miscarry naturally. So I sought a second opinion and he gave me misoprostol to help the miscarriage along. This worked, was less invasive than the d&c and required no surgery. Find a doctor who uses medical miscarriage managment rather than surgical. It's much better. Or wait and miscarry naturally. My friend did-it took a month, but she didn't mind really. And I think the doctors just scare us with the risk of infection if we don't have a d&c. It took two months to finally miscarry in my case (after all the trouble and switching doctors) and I didn't get an infection. I've heard of someone who didn't miscarry naturally for four months and she was fine, too. Irritating if you want to get pregnant again, but still no infection. Good luck. This totally sucks for you, I'm sure. It was the worst thing that happened to me so far in my life. You'll be fine and you'll have a million healthy kids in the future-but I know it's sad to think of this one.

This happened to my friend. She went in for an U/S at ten weeks and baby stopped growing at 7. She did a D&C cause there are a lot of risks of infection without it. Also, passing a fetus on your own hurts very bad. I've had three and passed them all (not by choice) and it was worse than labor. Sorry for your loss and I really think you should get a D&C

I'm sorry for your loss. The same thing happened to me. I was four months when my baby died in the womb and was given the option, but was never totally informed on all the facts. I had a D & C done and regret it to this day. I never knew what the baby was (boy or girl) with having a D & C. I wish I had natuaraly went into labor and had the baby. It would of been tough, but at least I could of had some closure to it. I always wonder now.

did they do an ultrasound to make sure?because if they just used a doppler device it could just not have picked it up yet.if they did do an ultrasound and its confirmed that there is no heartbeat then i would have the dnc because you might possibly have to have one anyways even if you miscarry naturally because it might not all come out.im really sorry this happened to you and i hope you are blessed with lots of babys!!good luck

I recently had a miscarriage myself. It was not at all harmful to myself, but there was a lot of bleeding involved like having a period and cramps. (really, just like a period) I think that you should just try to go natural before referring to a D&C. I am sorry for the lose and wish you the best.

Well I'd do the D/C
It cleans you out and you can start fresh,
however make sure you are taking care of your self and continue to take your prenatal vitamins.
this way your ready for your next pregnancy
Good luck and I am sorry ,
You'll be ok
