A lot of people hate Michigan and simply don't want to see a rematch between Michigan and OSU. There's more money to be earned with a OSU/Florida and Michigan/USC bowl game (cover more parts of the country this way).

Michigan lost ground to Flordia because...

1. Florida won the SEC Championship.

2. Michigan already played Ohio St. and no one (in their right mind) wants to see a re-match.

Strength of schedule. Florida has played 4 ranked teams while Michigan has played 2 ranked teams.

Because we didn't play the last two weeks. Because the voters were voting against a rematch and not for the best two teams. And finally because USC lost. If USC had won then there is no way for Florida to leapfrog us. But when USC lost then the voters needed a team to prevent the rematch, so Florida it is!

(sounds pretty unfair to me!)

Florida statistically had the toughest schedule in all of college football. You'll get a lot of whining wolverine fans answering this, but this is the exact reason. Florida won their conference and it was the toughest conference this year. michigan didn't.
