If someone was eating oranges in there by peeling them, that will make the room smell like oranges for ages. If you notice when you're peeling them, orange oil is spraying out from the skin. That leaves the scent on your hands and anything nearby. Goo gone adhesive remover also smells like oranges.

Maybe someone who was eating oranges was in that room before you, the smell of an orange is very strong it may have lingered there after someone left that room.
