My sound is glitchy, programs stop responding alot and my computer is going really slow. Please help me!

Do not use AVG, it miss too may viruses
Do not use Avast. it eat up resources on your pc and will slow it down.
You may also need more RAM on your PC. Need 512Mb of Ram or more for WinXP. You also may have too many services or programs running in the background, need to disable them.

I use McAfee stinger260 I saved on a floppy. Then I run Ad-Aware SE personal, then a full virus scan. Stinger and Ad-Aware are free downloads you can put on your desktop. Stinger I keep on a floppy for safe keeping but go to the web site for updates. Then I run a disk clean on accessories from the start menu. You may want to change your password often also. But I do all of this OFF LINE! Just update 2X weekly and you should be fine. Good Luck!

If your programs stop responding how are you going to install and run an anti-virus program?
I reccomend booting your PC into Safe Mode (F8 on boot up). When in safe mode uninstall any unwanted or unused programs from add/remove programs in the control panel. Then run a disk cleanup, a defrag, and a scandisk with the option to repair enabled.
Then run your anti-virus program from safe mode.

The super anti spyware sounds great!
I've also found the yahoo protection to be quite helpful. Trend micro pc cillan has been theeeee worst by the way!
