Yes, I do watch British comedy programs. I like some of them. Mainly: "Are you being served?", "Keeping up appearances", and one I just saw last night that I thought was a riot "Wooster & Jeeves" (I think that was the name of it). British humor is somewhat different from American humor, so it took me a little while to understand some of the jokes. But now I manage to get a few laughs from the programs.

When I was younger I use to watch Benny Hill all the time, I thought it was absolutely hilarious. Right now I watch Keeping up Appearances on BBC America, that show makes me laugh just about everyday. So ya, I do watch British comedies. I actually like watching quite a few shows on the BBC.

Not so many anymore - mostly because they're never on...
In the past - British comedy has rocked, way better than American comedy, which frankly is crap.
Benny Hill, something about being Served, Monty Python, Red Dwarf - oh and Doctor Who, not comedy but damn the new version is even better than the old one...
Oh - Rowan Atkinson did an incredible series involving history... possibly the best thing I've ever seen... need to find the tapes is my ex didn't take them. Flippin' hysterical and poignant...

Loved the original 'Whose Line is it, Anyway', especially the episodes with Sandy Toksvig and Josey Laurence (sp).
Red Dwarf is better than bubble gum.
The Young Ones!!! I was even going to get that album that came out years ago that had the fellow who played Neal singing. (Some lyrics...'there's a hole in my shoe, and it's letting in water, letting in water.)
Never got into Monty Python, but though the fellows were great in 'A Fish Called Wanda'.
What's the name of the program where there are a bunch of people working in a department store (I think it's a department store)? Been a long time since I saw it, but really thought it was funny.
Saw Felicity Kendall in something, a comedy program where she and her husband used pig waste to make methane. Didn't care about the show, but Felicity Kendall was quite the dish.
There was also some show, I forgot the name of it, with a young black fellow and a young white fellow who were friends, possible roommates. Landlord was always aggravated with them for some reason. And in one episode, the white guy was in hospital with the glands on the sides of his face and neck swollen. (Long time ago, I saw this.)
Absolutely Fabulous!!!!!
French and Saunders!!!!! Still can't get over French running, then falling down during the opening credits of 'Dr Quim: Mad Woman'. Quim...OMGROTFLMAO!
Although it's not a comedy program, I have to mention Dr. Who. As a kid, I adored Tom Baker. He was just so beautiful. Of course, Elisabeth Sladen was much more attractive, but Baker was almost as worthy of the centerfold.
Great question.
Be well.
edited to add:
Black Adder was good. Mr Bean was as well.

Where I live we get some of them from our public television station, but most of the shows were filmed sometime in the 70's and 80's, so I haven't seen any recent ones. I find many of them hilarious, especially "Keeping up Appearances" and " 'Allo 'Allo!". "Are You Being Served" can be funny, but is very silly. I also like "Waiting for God" and "As Time Goes By', both of which have a more subtle kind of humor. Of course any Monty Python program is great, although "Faulty Towers is so good, I find it painful to watch (because of Basil's innadequacies). Another one of my favorite shows is "Father Ted", but I don't know if it is an Irish show, or if it is just pretend-Irish. Either way, if you haven't seen it, you should definetely try. I just wish we could get some of the more recent stuff.

Top Gear and anything with Steve Cougan are the only British shows I've watched, it makes me laugh. Kinda hard to find any British comedy here. Half the people aren't smart enough to understand them, and the other half can't break free from the "collective" to think on their own. (lol, Pop-culture)

Depends on the show. Over here is seems like "Are you being served" and "Benny Hill" are shown all the time on our PBS stations, and they never make me laugh. But a few shows that popped up briefly that did make me guffaw were "Agony", "Red Dwarf" and "Fawlty Towers". I realize that these shows are twenty years old and more. I don't know why we don't get to see more recent programs. On cable TV here, there's a channel called BBC America, but I don't get that station in my area. Sigh.

i do not truly have a decision. If i encounter some thing humorous i am going to visual show unit it. i imagine that britain is amazingly good at introducing new forms of comedy although. u . s . a . of america has a tendency to adhere to the sitcoms. I completely trust you on little britain with techniques from the way!

They are hit or miss for me. I love Monty Python and Spaced, and I was enjoying Green Wing, I believe that was the name, the British hour-long version of Scrubs.

Monty Python and Benny Hill were great. The latest ones tend to be a little bit dry.
