I think we cricket-fans in/from India are wasting money (and time/ effort/ peace of mind) as far as BCCI (the Blundering Corrupt Comedians of India) is concerned. We should make it a point to professionalise the BCCI and then insist on the BCCI producing a professional Indian cricket team - where all experienced players are selected based on their "present" form (say performance in the last 20 matches) and rookies are selected based on their "current form" in the domestic level and not based on regional/ political bias ..... And there should be no Holy Cows and no Gods in the team - no matter who it is!

At the outset, I really wonder what you mean by wasting money on unprofessional players. While some of the players may not be in their prime form, it is not fair to call them unprofessional player, especially Sachin Tendulkar. I am really surprised how can some one call a player who holds the record for most centuries in Test Cricket and One Day Internationals and also most runs in One Day Internationals can be termed as unprofessional.
the earning of BCCI.

it's easy to point out the issues... it's more difficult to actually point out a solution. The problem is not just the non-performance of existing players, but it's the lack of reserves who can replace these useless guys with their bloated paychecks. the world cup seems a bridge too far already.
