get a solicitor to get you some compensation. use one that doesn't take a cut of your compensation but just claim costs from other side.

Sick pay is determined by the written terms and conditions of employment (aka the contract), where there will be a section detailing what happens in the event of absence from work for reason of ill-health.

If the contract states you're entitled only to SSP, then that's that. But you need to get a copy of the contract and read it carefully to see if the Company is 'holding out' on paying you an amount over and above SSP.

The other issue is whether you're entitled to claim compensation for injury caused by the employers negligence. This would be a claim against the employers insurance company, and you should seek professional legal advice to determine whether or not the employer has a case to answer. If you choose to pursue this line, please do so while still in receipt of SSP. That is, do so quickly.

Good luck.

There is a link which I would strongly suggest you look up. http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:D6tO_qsnW-kJ:www.direct.gov.uk/Bfsl1/BenefitsAndFinancialSupport/BenefitsAndFinancialSupportArticles/fs/en%3FCONTENT_ID%3D10018839%26chk%3DUb64zo+industrial+accident+england&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=8

You don't say how badly you were injured. Your employer may be well aware that you have a cause of action against him, but if he starts doling out extra cash at this point he is more or less admitting that he is at fault. He has to be very careful. If you were badly hurt, then consult a solicitor with a view to legal action against your employer. If you were not badly hurt, then consider the consequences of taking such action and all the bad feeling that it could stir up between you and him.

I hope you get somewhere!

You need to read your contract of work. Not all places pay occupational sick leave past the sick time you accummulate. If the injury was because of your negligence the company probably does not have to pay, if it was caused by the company's fault they do.

you need to find exact employment rights and safety subjects on your duties ........also , did they research your injury ? did they send you to a doctor that is within their range to ,actually make a legal notice of you getting hurt on the job ? do you have a union ? any medical status of you getting hurt on the job?
please have it recorded and try to find out the most about this place where you work ..........
medical records is the only way to prove that indeed you got hurt at work ? most places will not help you out ? come back and tell more on your case , so we may answer you correctly .......

Speak to your employer as he may be liable if the injury was due to his negilgence. Was there a risk assessment carried out? If not he could be breaking the law.

you can contact a.c.a.s,they should be able to advice, if not your union can help,or seek lawyer to fight your case.but your company are responsible for your well being while at work.take photographic evidence of your injury and i hope you have been to the doctor/hospital for confirmation and extent of your injury,or you can take out a private case against them as personal injury claim, companys do not like these claims as they dont like to accept responsibility.good luck.
