I have obviously pressed something or other and now find that every single word document on my WP shows elaborate markings with a paragraph sign every time I press enter, arrows when I press shift and dots between every word. I have no idea how I did it and am unable to send documents to friends to show them what's going on and get their advice because when I print the page out or send it as a file attachment it looks perfectly normal. These mark ups are on my screen only and every Word document I open has them. I have tried all the obvious things, but to no avail. Does anyone know how I can restore sanity to my screen, please?

In Word
Click Tools, Options, in the "View" tab, untick all the boxes under Formatting Marks.
Click Ok and the marks should disappear.
You could also try the hide/unhide button on the toolbar it look like a back to front p with the circle part filled in.

Just hit control + shift +E
This prevents you from tracking changes in Microsoft Word

I guess you have 'checked' the 'Show/Hide' button on your top toolbar in error. It's the strangely shaped icon on the top row.Hover your cursor over it to see it's title. Then try 'checking/unchecking' it to see if it solves your problem.

Word = Microsoft word.
