I currently work for a bank. What would I need to do in order to make this dream come true? I know I'd need to go through school to get licensed and certified, but outside of that, how does one go about opening their own massage therapy location?

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Success Beyond Work: What Prosperous Massage Therapists Know--Minimum Work, Maximum Profits, and a Sellable Business by Colleen Holloway
* Marketing Massage: How to Build Your Dream Practice by Monica Roseberry
* The Educated Heart: Professional Guidelines for Massage Therapists, Bodyworkers and Movement Teachers by Nina McIntosh

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

I have the same idea I would love to own my own massage therapy business. I have a passion for helping people so when you get one started let me know I might be interested in being a partner.

nicely you'll opt to bypass to school for it, yet i'm effective you understand that. a range of of the therapists I now do paintings 2 jobs yet a range of of situations they're both rub down treatment jobs. it's going to be puzzling in the beginning to make ends meet so once you're first placing out out you'll likely desire a second job once you're progression clients. yet another reliable element to do is to study something which will separate you from all of the different therapists. even if that is a distinct modality, or doing ability paintings, or something alongside those lines. supply human beings a reason to work out YOU over all of the different therapists. i in my view grew to change into an esthetician so i visit do facials, waxing, etc. to boot to rub down.

Get your license, go work for someone else for three to five years, keep your eyes and ears open, and you will learn enough to decide if owning a business is right for you...
