Does it need an outside air vent?

From what I can gather, yes, it does need an outside vent. I went to http://www.alaskahearthproducts.com/Gas/Waterford_Gas.asp and both models they show indicate that it does need a vented pipe. There are other brands that are ventless (I know I am considering purchasing a vent free model for my home in Oregon). Depending on where you live you may not have natural gas available, so be careful before buying. Check with you city managers office on what is allowed in your community before installing.

If your not sure you should ask the company where you bought it from or have someone install it
