Im only 13 and do not act any older than my age, i dont dress like a tart like some girls my age and i dont feel the need to go out with as many boys as i possibly can to fit in.. But my 9 year old sister is already having mood swings, wearing make-up, swearing and back-chatting our parents and acting like a girl older than me! I know most people think that kids grow up too fast but is it normal that a little girl should be kissing boys, having mobile phones and wearing short skirts?!?!

Welcome to my life- I am four years older than my younger sister and I have been told for at least the last three years (since she was fourteen) that she appears older than I do. She wears significantly more makeup, dresses like a goth vampire, and dyes her hair. She even got a boyfriend before me! It is a little odd that your sister has a mobile phone and wears short skirts, though. It sounds like she must have chosen a role model or ideal far out of her age bracket. Maybe, if you are really worried about her, set aside some time to spend with her doing fun things at any age-stage a play together, go play a sport, or have a good old sister-sister chat over a slice of cake. Whatever you do, realize that even though she may act older, she still looks up to you. I never realized that my sister did until my mom sent me a copy of a paper she wrote for her French class; it was about the person she admired most and it was about me. Go figure!

In today culture there isn't a strong urge to hold onto your childhood all we hear about is what Paris Hilton is doing or how much weight Nicole Richie lost. It's sad When I was ten all I cared about was Building Forts, Ninja Turtles, Sledding, And Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches. I feel sorry for today's Children and Pray for tomorrows. Enjoy your youth don't Rush into Adulthood It's nothing Special

You need to stop her dead in her tracks. Your the older sister so act like one. 9 years old & doing all of that. By the time she is 13, If you & your parents don't get a hold on her, SHE WILL BE HAVING SEX. I can promise you that.

Nope, and I think it's great that you're setting her a good example by behaving like somebody your age - whether or not she chooses to follow your example is up to her!

Girls who do that are probably feeling under pressure socially to act much older than they are - however, when they get to the age where it is more appropriate to wear make-up, more revealing clothes etc then they will probably regret trying to start their teenage years too early and stopping their childhood too early as well.

these days unfortunatly it is seen all to often. The pictures of girls as young as 2 in the uk papers last week at a beauty pagent with make up, short skirts, skimpt top. it just plain wrong! little girls should remain children for as long as possible. they do this beacuse of the rolemodels in society today ie kate moss, kylie but parents should put their foot down. i hate to say it but your parents should have NEVER of let this happen! you stay as you are and don't let anyone pressure you into being more 'mature'. there is nothing wrong with enjoying your childhood while you can.

you're sister should definitely not be wearing makeup at the age of 9! Nor should she be swearing! She needs to be disciplined and taught not to act like that or things will only get worse.

It is all in how you both were raised. Obviously after they raised you they realized that they could be more relaxed because you turned out so well. Remember that parents are normally the cautious with the first child and learn to relax with the second. So she has been raised slightly different from you.

she is definately growing up way too fast.

i think it would be best to talk to her and your parents and make sure shes friends with the right people - she'll thank you for it in the long run.

carry on being who you are, if she can see you as an example - she'll realise that you're the kind of role model she needs.

hope this helps. x

what a thoughtful girl you are!
You have no control over your sisters actions so just be there for her. It's your parents who have to deal with her. You just carry on being a kid honey and stay the way you are! x

No it's not. She's growing up to fast. And do your parents buy those clothes for her? Where is she getting this stuff? Why is she talking back like that. Are you parents letting her?
