Everyone has different taste in music! The first time I ever heard of Phil Collins or Genesis, was when I saw their Invisible Touch video. Still one of my all-time favorite songs, and all time favorite album. Phil's solo works are also great, as are his Disney soundtracks. I'll admit, I think he hit the top of his game with the Another Day in Paradise album - as I only liked 1 or 2 tracks from each of his last 3 solo albums (Both Sides, Dance into the Light, and Testify).
As someone else here has said, in addition to being a solo artist, and lead singer for Genesis - Phil is also a world class drummer. Perhaps you'd change your tune by listening to his Platinum selling Jazz album - A Hot Night In Paris. He gave his top solo and Genesis tunes the big band treatment, and you don't have to listen to him sing.
As for Genesis - look at their website below. They have several albums featuring Peter Gabrial as the lead singer - AND the last Genesis album (Calling All Stations, released around 1997) features Ray Wilson as the lead vocalist CAS was underrated and didn't do much here in the states, but did go Platinum in Europe. Don't knock the group because of one song featuring a lead singer you don't like!

I find Phil Collins very insightful and nowhere as irritating as some of the other singers of the 80's.

I followed Genesis when they were gigging at the Agora's in Ohio back in he late 70's. Incredible music, great theatrics, awsome musicians - Phil not only sings he is a world class drummer. At one time these guys weren't commercial they were out on the edge of performance and theatrics and blended it with musical content. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is still one of the best concerts I've ever seen.

You might have a displeasure of Phil Collins and Genisis but you don't need to dictate what ppl can listen to and what they can't.

Then don't listen. Nobody is holding a gun to your head to make you listen to them.
Why don't you suggest a better alternative. Maybe one of those Seatlle grunge rockers like Vedder. Now there's a guy with an incredible voice. Incredibly limited and one dimensional that is

Genesis is an amazing band, and has a great sound. If you don't like them fine, but it doesn't mean that you need to be all PO'd and share it with the world to make people feel how you do or die.

follow you, follow me is one of my top three favourite songs; enjoyment is in the ear of the listener; too bad he irritates you; he's not a great singer, but he is good and he is a great entertainer. there are plenty of artists out there to divert you so why waste your time disliking collins?
