Who is Zorak?
I am the Lone Locust of the Apocalypse! Think of me when you look to the night sky!
Zorak is a character from the old cartoon Space Ghost, and more recently from Space Ghost Coast To Coast which occasionally airs on the Cartoon Network as part of "Adult Swim" on Sunday nights.
The premise of SGC2C is: "What would it be like if a pompous superhero hosted a late night talk show?" Spicing the show up are his band leader, Zorak, and his program director, Moltar, who are actually former enemies of his whom he has vanquished and enslaved to work on his talk show. Consequently they are both rather derisive of his efforts.
Zorak is a large green praying mantis, but for some reason in the earlier episodes he was referred to as a locust, and at one point he identified himself as "I am the Lone Locust of the Apocalypse! Think of me when you look to the night sky!" And in a later show he referred to himself as a mantis and Space Ghost said "Oh, so you're a mantis now? I thought you were a locust. Maybe we should call you the Lone Mantis of the Apocalypse?" He's also very cynical and sarcastic which is sort of why he's my favorite character :-)
All of the characters, I gather, were in the original cartoon decades ago, and they were recycled for this concept. However this was before my childhood.
