Yousuf breaks 30-year-old record
Osman Samiuddin at Karachi
November 30, 2006
A typically elegant, clipped on-drive for four off Corey Collymore took Mohammad Yousuf from 44 to 48 on the fourth day of the final Test between Pakistan and the West Indies at Karachi. A modest raise of the bat acknowledged that the drive also took him past one of the longest-standing records in cricket, of most runs in a calendar year.
Mohammad Yousuf (Urdu: محمد یوسف; formerly Yousuf Youhana, Urdu: یوسف یوحنا) (born August 27, 1974, Lahore, Punjab) is a Pakistani cricketer who has been a member of the Pakistani national cricket team since 1998. He converted to Islam in 2005, and in 2006 set a world record for the most Test runs by a batsman in a single calendar year.
On November 30, 2006, he surpassed Viv Richards' thirty years old record and became the highest scorer in Test matches during a single calendar year. He also broke Zaheer Abbas's record for the most runs made by a Pakistani batsman in a three-Test series. Abbas had made 583 runs against the visiting Indians in 1978-79
After his 191 at Multan he became the first player in Test history to have been dismissed 3 times in the 190's, with all three innings coming in 2006
Yousuf hit nine centuries this year, which is a world record for most centuries in a calendar year.
Yousuf also equalled Australian great Don Bradman's record of scoring six centuries in successive Tests - although it took him only five matches compared with Bradman's six.

Diego Armando Maradona, maximum purests will say Pele , besides the fact that Pele replaced into helped by making use of having a '' stacked deck'' fidgeting with all the time making issues ensue, Maradona on the different hand basically had basic gamers looking on him to make issues ensue.
