I don't know what SSI is, but I judge people on the way they act rather than the way they are. My Grandfather was completely deaf in one ear and 60% deaf in the other. He was hillarious!

He was married for 60 years and could hear a pin drop if it was in his interest. However, if my Gran started going at him, he would just turn the hearing aid off and nod every now and then ha-ha!

Needless to say, it drove my Gran crazy :-) (not literally). How many married men would like that feature from time to time thought? Be honest guys haha!

Frist, this question is going to generate that "huh?" answer, as people are cruel.

Second, I see nothing wrong with deafness. I realize that the option for the operation to give one a kind of hearing is a deeply personal decision and people should be forced into it.

Third, pleasant is as plaasant does, regardless of your status

Deaf people have a disability and should not be put down or treated any different. Some people that act cruel towards the disabled are picking on the weak and should come and see me.

I don't think anything about them--everyone is what they are, deaf, not deaf, purple green yellow orange, everyone is the same on the inside.

And deaf people contribute to SSI so what's the point here?

i kind of feel bad for them i mean they cant hear anything they cant even hear their own voice so when they try to talk they dont know whats coming out of their mouth... but i think its really cool how they can pick up signlanguage at such early ages... i mean it took me like a month and a half to learn just the alphabet in signlanguage (im not deaf but my mom used to work with deaf people and i went to a convention with her so yeah)

Deaf people are no different to anyone else. We are all individuals with different issues. I have no idea what SSI, sorry.

Just like everyone else.I have no reason being against them. Its their choice about SSI. Some feel they don't need to be on SSI.

I think all people are great, and deaf people especially, because imagine how hard it would be to live in a silent world, and not be able to chat easily with your friends, listen to fantastic music etc.

That would be so hard.
