Your dead right. Nintendo's been around longer than sony (playstation) microsoft (xbox) and sega (old megadrive, dreamcast)
Nintendo have always focus on making a 'game' instead of a all singing, all dancing movie franchise like sony and microsoft do. That and they like to make the best of current tech, not just keep updating because its new. For example, the N64 had 3D graphics on a CARTRIDGE!
Which brings me to my other point, that nintendo have OWNED the handheld market since 1989 when the origonal Game Boy came out. I dont care if a psp is supposedly better, the DS wins hands down

There are some Die Hard Nintendo fans out there and to tell the truth they piss me right off-
I LOVE THE NINTENDO GAMES like diddy kong racing, pod racing, Goldeneye ;Soul Calibur II is the best on gamecube (because of the controls aswell as the fact links in it) the Zelda's especially Ocarina and Windwaker playing Majora's Mask at the moment-its really frustrating and of course the legendary mario 3.
Die Hard Nintendo fans are like babies refusing to stop sucking on there mothers titties. They play the kick @ss Nintendo games that are out there but refuse to even look or touch at a playststion or X-box controller on a matter of principle.
Myself-I love and hate games on each console across the board and throughout the years
-X-box is the weakest I think because of the titles they release DOA rocks though :D
Personally I like the ps2 controller and games the best like the metal gears and final fantasy's -which i know originally were released on the NES and SNES.
BASICALLY I'm a gaming sl*t I'm not loyal to any particular console-but the ps2 has given me the most joy- if I were to tally up my gaming hours and compare them: the ps2 would be 20 times the others EASILY!
So to answer your statement that nintendo is the best game company- yes it is to its loyal fans but to others ps2 makes more sense. Zelda is one of the top series's ever made not many people argue that though.

I used to be a huge Nintendo fan. I totally was sold on the original NES, SNES, and Nintendo 64. And yes, Nintendo created classic games like the Mario Bros., (Mario 3 is STILL the best game ever!!) Zelda, and many more.
But Sony has come along and taken the reigns. When PlayStations revolutionized gaming by putting games on CDs, Nintendo stood strong with the cartridge, saying that gamers would not stand for the load time. That would be a move Nintendo and it's fans would live to regret.
Nintendo continued to drop when it released it's first CD console in the GameCube. It forced game-makers to produce games on it's own proprietary mini-disk; scaring away a lot of game makers (what's Final Fantasy played on today? It used to be a soley Nintendo franchise.) and limiting the GameCube's versatility (the PlayStation could play music CDs, and the PS2 could play DVDs).
In short, Nintendo is still out there competing, but has lost it's edge. It was revolutionary when the NES burst onto the scene with Duck Hunt (a game that was amazing back then). And continued to dominate with the SNES (does anyone remember who made the Genesis?). But Nintendo couldn't stay on the cutting edge, and couldn't see where game-play was heading soon enough.
Nintendo had it's time, but I'm sorry to say, like all good things....

in the experience that they were(and understand your roots - supply credit to ATARI who has been round longer) they does no longer have blown it with Sony. The pswas meant to be a SNES upload-on. Nintendo then became their decrease back on Sony and so Sony stated superb and created their own gaming device. Nintendo might want to have the suited hand held list(no longer suited recreation structures, purely suited at promoting them) even if the PS2 is the suited console likely in my existence(and that begins before Nintendo's NES). upload: LOL on the guy above me. Nintendo did not kill Sega, Sega killed Sega with the aid of putting out too many consoles. also Nintendo is making completely different video games and going for a very different target market then Sony and Microsoft. Gaming isn't leaving the adults, so Wii and Nintendo received't take down Sony and Microsoft with their "relatives" and young ones video games.

I don't agree.
Sony has had some fantastic titles. Final Fantasy series, Gran Turismo. The PS2 was the first console to release Grand Theft Auto's 3 and Vice City. The PS2 was the a platform for independant developers to create their games, rather than Nintendo doing it "in-house"
The only games that the Nintendo truly excel at is the platformers with Mario, but remember that Sony have also had a lot success in this genre - Crash Bandicoot, Ratchett & Clank, and Jak & Daxter.
Nintendo do tend to rest on their laurels as Mario hasn't really changed much over the last 20 years, and I believe it would be fair to say that Nintendo now target the younger gamers rather than older, with games such as the Pokemon series and Nintendogs, They are almost not in competition with each other.
I do have to admit that the Wii looks quite intriguing.

sony wouldn't even be IN THE GAME RACE if nintendo didn't help them develop the first playstation (ever wonder what that slot on the bottom of your N64 is for?), and Xbox wouldn't be around if microsoft hadn't backstabbed Sega by stealing their DreamCast development ideas. Nintendo got where it is on its own, and has been unbeatable in the console race and the handheld race. the Gamecube probably didn't have the largest library of interesting games, but it still sold one of the most popular games in history: Super Smash Bros. Melee. and with such a creative and amazing system like the Wii out (which has been beating the PS3 in sales -- just goes to show gameplay is more important than graphics), there's no way Nintendo can lose
FYI Joel, Square is doing games for Nintendo again

Just one minor thing to point out. PS2 doesn't make games, so they can't really be compared, unless you're comparing consoles.
All-in-all, being a RPG fan, I find the games created by Square and Enix to be one of the best.
If you're comparing consoles, then I would sway towards Playstation more.
There's one more thing to point out: Nintendo engaged in cutthroat competition, where you can't make games for competitors if the developers choose to make game for Nintendo, so not all things Nintendo did for gaming was good.

Sorry I'd have to disagree with you, I much prefer the PS2 for its wealth of great RPG games. Nintendo was great when it first came out, and I still hold a place dear in my heart for the wonderful Zelda games, nothing it has given recently can compare to the great Final Fantasy games, and the lovely flow of the graphics on Tony Hawk skateboarding games while flinging your little man around doing 900 spins and landing them!
My personal opinion of course =)

I really think they made gaming popular in the U.S, and brought us games that are fun for all ages. They aren't as successful because there's lot of competition, and they kind of stay safe with kid-friendly, 'G' rated games. It'll be a long time before you see anything like Grand Theft Auto for the Wii. But their games seem like they're getting edgier - check out Zelda: Twilight Princess. They're trying to expand, since a huge percentage of gamers are guys age 17-30 who usually only play extreme sports games or violent, action games.
I personally prefer Nintendo's games, like Mario Kart and Nintendogs. Not to mention that they introduced me to video games with the Gameboy Color and the Pokemon games (lol). My brother, on the other hand, is a total opposite; he spends hours playing PS2 games like GTA and Scarface.
I think the only reason Sony is getting much more publicity is because they're trying to be innovative, with the PS3 having a Blu-Ray player, High-Def graphics and more. Nintendo has an innovative controller, but not a whole lot that hasn't been introduced in previous systems, so people are more interested in the PS3.
Personally, I'm happy that the Wii isn't that innovative, since I'm more interested in just how fun the games are, not how many pixels are crammed on the screen. I'd never pay $600 for any game system, but I'll definitely buy the Wii, with it's low retail.

I absolutely agree! In fact i have recently ordered a Nintendo Entertainment System off ebay with Mario 3, which has to be the best ever game to be made! I had it when I was younger and it is such a classic I had to go and buy another one and re-live my youth!!!!
