i guess if the animal have been saved in some way it would certainly be a happier ending for it than dying in pain.

Depends on the context. If its an endangered animal or has been abandoned by its mother, and there is hope it can someday be re-released, and it has a massive enclousure to run around in with others of its kind, whereas in the wild it would be on its own with a few other members of its species scattered throughout the region, which is being destroyed by defforestation then yes. But if they are thriving and under no threat and the animal has just been captured and put on show in a tiny cage then no.

I guess if an animal is born in the zoo its all it knows and probably would not survive in the wild. However if they animal is caught and caged then it is NOT happy.

How can you determine happiness in an animal? You cannot attribute human emotions to animals as they are different and live completely different lives. The animal may be perfectly "happy" living somewhere where there is plenty or food, is safe and can breed at will. So how do you know if they are happy or sad in a captive environment?

if they had any intelligence they would realise that they would probably starve to death or get eaten in the wild so shut up, take the 3 square and smile for the camera
