we see things as colour because the colour light that the object is reflects off it and into our eyes. So red absorbs everything but red, blue absorbs everything but blue, white reflects everything which combines to make white, and black absorbs all light.

Now the relavent part: Light is energy, so when it hits something white it all bounces off, when it hits any other colour but white and black the object absorbs all the light but that particular colour. Since light is energy the energy has to go somewhere so turns to heat. Black is strange because its not technically a colour. It absorbs all the light so what you see is the colour of nothingness. So therefore it gets the hottest quickest.

On an intersting note. No object (yet) is pure black. If there was a pure/perfect black square on your wall, it would be like you were looking through a hole into a pitch black room. As you moved your hand towards it it would feel like it was about to go through but then your hand would hit the wall because its still solid. Or maybe totally pure black is a black hole, that absorbs everything.

We see reflected light. White is all light being reflected off of that object, where black is no light being reflected. Black absorbes all ligt, which is energy. So that is why black absorbes the most heat, and why we cant see a lot out in space.
