how can I free up brass threads?

I have a set of salt and pepper cellars that consist of small brass drums with screw tops. Over time the tops have become stuck on, and a greenish corrosion has gathered at the junction. How can i get the tops off and clear away the corrosion?

Soak them in diluted Lime-Away, it will dissolve the corrosion.

You also can try Lub-E from ACE hardware. I've had great luck unsticking screws, bolts, etc with it. It won't harm your cellars, and will wash off cleanly.
