Well, reinforcing gender stereotypes would involve requiring that people act in a completely hegemonic masculine/feminine way. That is, there can be no deviance. Women must always wear heels and makeup, etc. and men must always wear plain clothes and be aggressive/assertive.

Transcending gender stereotypes involves the realization that nobody is completely 100% feminine or 100% masculine, everyone falls somewhere on the gender continuum. So to transcend gender stereotypes you might give your female daughter a hammer to play with and your son a doll, for example.

It all has to do with whether or not you challenge the currently held beliefs about gender.

Take into consideration the culture of the person and why there is re-inforcement. In my example I was very lucky that I had an enlighnted mother who encouraged me to be the best at what I could achieve (though that took a while to get there!) - So in my case the the Stereotype given to me was
Attend a girls school (I did, Hated it!), Learn to Cook and Sew(I know this and use it to my advantage!), learn to be a gracious hostess, Wear Dresses, Cover up, I had to have a chaperone with me everytime I went Shopping, to the movies or anywhere outside the house - Once I turned 18 - I was allowed to consider jobs in the traditional Women Fields i.e: Teaching/ Secretarial - I even allowed a marriage to be arranged from the same culture and religion as my family- BECAUSE I WAS A WOMEN (My brother on the other hand had a very different upbringing). I trancended these stereotypes (with the help of my mom) by going against all of these: I was the first women to be given a Bursery for a mechanical Engineering Course (I therefore work in a man's world), I rejected the proposed Arranged marriage and rather married someone of MY OWN choosing even though this was across culture, I can wear what i want when I want. I am the breadwinner. I have two daughters and a son - both me and my husband encourage them equally to achieve what they trully want and not to look at what stereotypes there are or what peer pressure says they should do. You are your own individual self and by trying to keep people into stereotypes you actually do not allow them to grow.

Reinforcing - not allowing your daughter to be a pizza-delivery girl while allowing your son to do so/automatically handing the bill to a male, automatically assuming that a male is more capable/taking his answer over a female's, patronizing a female by insisting that she not go out alone at night

Transcending - writing a feminist essay, asserting gender as subjective, encouraging a man to enter the fashion buisiness, encouraging a woman to sue to government for allowance into combat positions, encouraging little girls to love themselve and compete intellectually instead of aesthetically

There's a few.

Question is an ill posed sociological construct, as one sees from the previous answer. It is not patronizing to worry about an unaccompanied female going out alone at night. This is the common confusion one sees in sociology; a confusion between a prescription of caution, from reality, to an assignment of blame, stemming from ideology.

convinced it reinforces gender stereotypes and violence because gaming designers are concentrated on a particular age crew. shooter form video games are very common, the violence image. some video games have lady characters that are purely prostitutes, strippers or a g/f to the numerous personality. the alternative of gown for ladies that gaming designers use isn't clothing that universal women human beings might want to positioned on. plus the overly buxom construct and tiny waist with a huge booty must be their theory of a dream female. the female communicate is previous theory in certain situations. jogs my memory the girls in anime. yet recreation enthusiasts seem evidence against the violence and sexism as its purely leisure and a social thanks to play on line with associates.
