In my opinion its becouse hip hop caters more to young, immature, music deprived, "followers". kids (and some immature adults) get sucked in by the "bling" and 35" rims on a buick regal (what the hell's that about), and big booty girls wearing practically nothing, gold teeth or grills (wait didnt that go out in the 70's and doesnt your breath stink in you have gold in there?), and they dont really hear the lyrics or know where that background music (sampling) came from if kids ( and immature adults) got exposed to all types of music like rock, original (underground) rap, country, spanish, indian, rockabilly, well all the "____billy's",swing, clasic rock, blues, etc etc they might change their way of thinking, and start liking music for music and not for appearences.

MTV ruined the world... There is some really good Hip Hop out there, it's underground and not mainstream though. I like both Rock and Hip Hop. W/ Rock you have MetallicA, SOAD and Audioslave. Plus there are millions of great Classic Rock bands like Zeppelin, Sabbath and The Doors. Hip Hop has some great groups too like The Coup, Atmosphere and Murs. It's all subjective really some people just like one genre of music over the other to cater to their tastes.

And where is this bubble that you live in. Just because MTV plays more hip hop than rock does not mean anything. Come join the rest of the world it's nice out here.

Now, now - it all comes down to personal preference, which is formed out of a collection of influences an individual has throughout his or her life - parents, friends, the media, etc.

Although, we all know rock is way way better than hip hop any day despite all that balderdash I just threw out there.

It's definitely not by my. I love rock!
But i think the reason a lot of people like is because, You can dance to Hip Hop and it is mostly "Happy" music. Were rock music explores all emotions, Including Anger.

And of course its all over the radio and MTV for one is trying its best to kill Rock music.

Rock is stone dead; we have to face it.
I'm a Rock fan and a guitar player for too many years now and these days I get really anxious checking out the new albums my favorite bands put out. I'm always afraid that they would sound lame compared to the old ones.
Why is it a common trend in Rock that lead guitarists don't write solos anymore?? WTF does Kirk Hammet, for one, think he's doing?? How did we ever come to this?? All we have now is boy bands and guitarists who can't play guitar?? Even when u look at frontmen!! Posers and narcissists and geeks who can't be compared to the larger-than-life rappers. Whoever prefers anything to Rock is totally right. It's just so frustrating!!
Tell me this one thing; has anyone replaced Randy Rhodes, Kurt Cobain or Axl Rose??

.

It's not to everyone. In Hip Hop fame comes quicker because all you have to do is use a riff of classic rock where as in rock they don't sample p.diddy or master p. etc.

Well hip hop has better beats. You can actually dance to hip hop. Rock you can't really dance to it, all u do is hand bang.

i think it's because rock has a harder beat, and that makes most people feel on edge. the lighter beat of hip hop is also easier to dance to and people naturally like to dance.
