A fairy is found here on earth, can be either evil or good and may grant wishes while angels lives in heaven and are servants of God. By the way, faires are just mythical creatures while angels- as far as I know- are true.

An angel is a supernatural being found in many religions.

According to the spirit continuum theory, humans have only a little spirit, fairies (elves, earth spirit-type beings) have a little more, elementals ("princes and principalities of the air", earth-air- fire-water types) have more, and angels (devas) have even more. They're right below deities.

According to what I've read about Nike, the Greek goddess of victory (and sneakers), her wings influenced later thought on what fairies and angels looked like. She's the headless, armless, footless, winged goddess in the Louvre. Apparently, many people believed in fairy and angel-type beings but didn't necessarily believe they had wings until they heard about Nike, a popular goddess who was invoked often in wars and races and things like that.

The "guardian angel" idea is sometimes seen as the "higher self" or spirit part of a human who hangs out by the person's physical body and helps him/her out in tricky situations.

Fairies are usually seen as more powerful than humans, less powerful than angels, but not beholden to serve humans (many angels are stuck doing God's will and that means serving humans.) Fairies don't seem to be bound by the same rules. They might help if you're nice to them...or they might f*ck up your stuff and kidnap your babies. Even if you're nice to them.

They're seen as the capricious side of nature--sometimes nature helps you, but you'd have to be pretty arrogant to say it works for you as your personal servant.

Angels, in a pagan sense, are like highly developed fairies who are usually pretty good and work to help keep things running in the physical and spiritual world. Angels in a Judeo-Christian sense, are servants of God and are good unless they went bad along with the Devil. But they're still servants to the Devil, who is, technically, still God's servant. They have a strict heirarchy and aren't allowed to do as they wish.

Fairies do whatever the f*ck they please. Some are nice, some are bastards. They're called fair-ies (fair ones, Good People, etc.) because people don't want to anger them or offend them. They're not always pretty and they certainly aren't always fair. They tend to live a very long time, but they're not always seen as immortal, just long-lived. Angels, however, are immortal.
