I am planning a fundraiser for a friend who is battling cancer for the second time in two years. She is going through her chemo now while continuing to work. Her husband isnt working thru no fault of his own. She is trying to save her vaction/sick time for the possibility of radiation. She has one teenaged daughter at home. My friend is the only one working. We want to have a fundraiser for her. We are having a band, food and raffles. I think maybe a bonfire. Has anyone else ever organized a fundraiser before? Or been to one? If you have any ideas or fun things that we could do, or if you can tell me any fun things you might've done or seen at one, it would be appreciated! Thank you all!

I asked this question a few days ago and got some really good responses. I also was wondering if someplace like Best Buy might donate a TV for the raffle? Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

You sound like you have a heart of gold. The world needs more people like you. Restaurants are always a good place to hit up for prizes.

I know trivia nights were always a success for fundraising I did. For a better night it might be worth trying to do it with/through a charity who has the connections. I used to be in a Lions Club and we could raise around $800 a trivia night. The best thing to do to get extra cash is charge for an answer. People could pay to have the answer told to them. Sometimes money speaks louder than brains.

You might ask that anyone who wishes to attend to bring photos of themselves as children and have a game where people can guess who the children in the pictures are.
