I just changed my Internet security to PC-cillin and keep getting a notice that the same computer is accessing my connection and I tell it that I want to block the computer - but it keeps coming up again and again. I'm sure it's probably just a neighbor and not intentional, but how do I block it permanently?

I think it's interesting that I never got a message like this with Norton Internet Security. Did Norton just not detect it or was it blocking more effectively? I also just changed my browser to firefox - could that have anything to do with it?

If you are using the block feature in PC-Cillin correctly then all it is doing is warning you of the attempt to connect to your network ....it is not saying that they are connected ...only that they are trying to connect.

If the problem persists I suggest you copy the IP addresses of the computers trying to get into your network & then go to this site to find out who they are :

http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp?siteid=361&channelid=P99C361S570N0B142A1D219E0000V100&clickid=1000000000

Choose "IP Address" in the search options.
Once it shows you who the ISP provider is you should contact them (via e-mail) with the IP adress of the offender & file a complaint. This will get them to stop.

In the case of any intrusion attempt you can also submit a complaint to the appropriate authorities. ISP providers will usually cooperate fully with all police corps.

You say you have a WiFi connection, how is a software based firewall detecting a connection to a hardware based access point? Nothing going on internally to your routers access would be able to be monitored by the likes of PC Cillin.

Different firewalls have different settings for the types of warnings that they give you depending on the severity of the intrusion attempt... Norton may have ignored computers attempting to connect to your wireless connection or it may have determined that their wasn't any risk associated with it.

What you should do however is make sure that the WPA or WEP encryption for your wireless connection is enabled. This involves providing an encryption key and password for your wireless connection (write it down) and anyone wanting to connect to your network will have to have the proper key or they won't be able to connect.. This should shut out your neighbor.

this is a firewall question, just install a free firewall and set the access to NO. If you have a firewall just change the program to NO

You lock it out on the wireless router setup. You should set up a password on your router so that other cannot access your connection, you do that on your router setup.
