I'm thinking it will probably have to be something that's not too involved or requires a lot of thinking as I will probably be getting irritated fairly easy. Does anyone out there have any recommendations? Did you watch any movies/shows before it was time to make the move to the hospital?

Every time I stopped walking during labour, everything slowed down. Once I sat down, and my baby must've gone to sleep or something - everything came to a grinding halt! I spent the morning (before going into hospital) walking up and down the hall, while my baby's father sat in the living room playing "Tomb Raider", redoing levels we'd done before, and asking my advice! Imagine shouted questions - "Weren't the Uzis somewhere around here?", "How did we get into that secret room?", "How do you get the quad-bike across the river?" - while you're leaning against the wall thinking "Owww..." (BTW, guess my daughter's name...) Far from wanting to take my mind off what was going on, I wanted to focus on it, to get it done more quickly.
If you end up watching anything (and baby may have other ideas - they don't all arrive during the day!), make it light and enjoyable, something you've seen before. Your concentration may be disturbed more than your mood.
Good luck - your life is about to irrevocably change!

what happens when you're in labor at the hospital and you have to go to the bathroom? Depending how far in or if you have an epidural you get up and go - or they catheter you is it common to urinate or defecate (poo) on the table? Yes - so don't even worry about it does it hurt more with a c-section as opposed to natural birth? you are numb with a c - and the recovery time is longer. Natural is very painful with-out drugs does it hurt after birth and for how long? about 2 week - natural and longer for a c what are the most common things to happen during pregnancy, labor and birth? name calling - pain - relief - sadness does it hurt as bad as people say really? (there's no worse pain in the world) That is true - but its also a joy at the end and such a relief that the intensity of it is diminished how many times do they take your blood? twice with each of mine - unless you have other problems When do they hook you up to a IV and when do they ask you if you want an epidural? they ask right away - IV is toward the beginning - and the epidural is done when you are far enough along as not to stall the labor What are the dangers of having an epidural and what does it do? minimal - and worth every risk Can the husband go in with you right away or do you need to request it? as long as its alright with you he can be there the entire time If you don't get an epidural and it hurts too bad can you get other pain medication, how well does it work and what kinds can you get? ie; do they give it to you in a shot? just barely takes the edge off E is better how many times should you see the doctor when you are pregnant about 1 every 3 weeks until closer to term them more frequently Good Luck - and I recommend reading the book -- "What to Expect when Expecting"

I have had 4 babies. With the middle 2, I went into labor in the middle of the night and was asleep, so no movie or TV watching then. My oldest, I went into labor in the morning, but I felt like sleeping most of the time and I didn't do any TV or movie watching then either. My youngest, I went into labor unexpectedly while I was at the hospital having a gel insertion to soften my cervix. I had a bad reaction and went into 6 minute long contractions. The baby went into distress so I didn't have any early labor with her. I was moved pretty fast to labor and delivery, prepped for induction, but my body did everything naturally. It was fast and hard labor. I went in at noon with no dilation and no effacement and had the baby at 7:40 PM. I would suggest if you want to watch any movie while waiting for contractions to move along, choose anything that you like and makes you feel good - any of your favorite ones will work. Not to worry too much about irritability in the early onset of labor, that kicks in big time when you are much further along in your labor, about the time of transition to active labor.

LOL! I remember being this optimistic once - I was so anxious I forget my labor music and my suitcase. It all turned out OK and I would up walking and just talking to my partner and he had a radio and we played at trying to name songs - it got easier as labor increased - who knew pain was so good for the memory. OK- back to your question - stick to light comedy like Sleepless in Seattle or You've got mail - cute and easy on the brain was my choice - but progress was so quick I was not to watch my pre-labor shows until 10 weeks after baby was born during a really difficult colic bout - helped keep me calm and I think ultimately calmed her too. Good Luck and here's wishing you a quick labor and good nights sleep!

I remember my mom and husband watching Wheel of Fortune during my labor (hard labor). I got so mad at them for yelling out letters when I could hardly contain myself from jumping out the 8th story window LOL. I honestly can't say I watched a minute of tv during the entire labor process. There was too much going on for me to focus on anything except myself, the pain and the little one that was coming soon!

Believe it or not, but we took the 3 Rambo DVD;s with us to the hospital. I guess all that blood and guts and noise anf fighting helped the time go by.
Good luck with your pregnancy and birth of your baby.

I watched DVDs of TV shows, they are easy to follow, chances are if you own them its a show you like, and they are short.
