It depends on your baby. Usually around 5 to 6 months. I have a 9 month old and she eats dinner with us. She likes to feed herself so we had to stop giving her jar food. The best thing to do is try out the Stage2 veggies and the move on to the meats. My first baby loved the macaroni & chz. Basically Stage2 is just maturing the baby for table food. The acquiring diffrnt tastes. But if the baby is at least 5 months I say go for it. Both my kids were eating mashed potatoes by 5 months!!! Just pay attention to her; she'll tell whether she likes it or not.

Well we have been buying Earth's Best organic baby food and I noticed that the only difference between jars with a 1 or a 2 on the label is the quantity. Stage 2 just is a bigger portion. They sell stage 1 pears and stage 2 pears. I guess maybe in stage 2 they offer a pear/mango mix too. But there is nothing magical really about the stage 1 vs. 2. Just make sure your baby has had all but one of the ingredients if you are buying a mixed variety. I have bought jars of stage 1 and stage 2 (as well as making my own baby food) from the start. My son just only ate part of the stage 2 jar.

Not all the "stage 2" foods are different - some are just in larger jars and those that are lumpier vary a lot. We started within a month or six weeks after the stage 1.

We tried some of the stage two things like "turkey with rice" and found they were full of sodium and other crap and really don't taste very good. You can buy a baby food mill on amazon.com for twelve dollars and grind whatever you are having for dinner. It's actually ridiculously easy to use.

The difference between stage 1 and 2 is that stage 2 is usually a combo of different things where stage 1 is single foods. The thickness is the same so once you know the baby is not allergic to things, you can start stage 2 foods.

I didn't see a large difference in the thickness between stage 1 and 2. For me, I switched when he wanted a larger jar. Once my sons were eating a full jar of stage 1 veggies and a full jar of fruit, I went up to 1 stage 1 jar and 1 stage 2. Then 2 stage 2 jars. He wasn't in them long though because he started eating solids by the time he was eating that quanity.

Hope it helps.

i probably moved up to stage 2 about a month after i started baby food. the thing with baby foods is, you can continue to give them stages you've already given them. like, when you move on to stage 3, you don't only have to give stage 3. my son still eats some stage 2. he eats stage 3 and some graduate foods. it gives him a good variety of textures.

Go ahead and move her to stage two. It's still got the same textures as stage one for the most part but it's larger portions and more variety of foods. Maybe start with stage 2 of the ones you feed her now then slowly add the other flavors. Once you've introduced the other flavors and mixtures you can start to move her to stage 3 as well.

Most baby foods say the month that the baby should be before consuming the different types of food. I use Heinz baby foods and stage 2 is for 6 months plus..

She's probably ready now. Just introduce one at a time, early in the day (in case of allergic reaction, you can bring her to the dr). Also, try some of the stage 2 foods that have her favorite stage 1 foods -- (like if she likes banannas, try the bannana/strawberry mix), etc.
