I heard it's got better since ford took over it suprisingly enough...so r they high maintenance(which would mean they break down often)...or are they reliable....r the parts expensive?

OK, trust me when I say that they are a pile of expensive junk.
My friend is a quality manager at the production plant. (Coventry, England). They have so many issues it's unreal.

They are usually reliable cars, even though ford makes them, the parts on them are expensive and not easy to come by.. if you do the maintenance correctly (i.e. fluid changes, tune ups) then your 01'-03' jag will be in excellent shape.

I just got rid of my 2004 S-Type. POS!!! Looks good but it had a number of problems. My mechanic (who I got to visit on a regular basis!) said Jags are notorious for being crap. I'd advise against it! The parts are very expensive and there is always something wrong. And I bought mine new.
