I would be inclined to find a really simple and informative book or website - and then give the book / URL to the daughter - and then ask a little later if she had any questions.

This way, she should have answers to questions that even you might not know - and also be spared some blushes if she feels the subject difficult.

I had to do that and I just told her what it is so that she wouldnt be scared when it happened. Then gave her some pads to keep in her purse for when it started. It was the best thing I ever did, because that made us very close, and we can discuss anything now, without embarressment.

Yes they usually teach girl in school so the father shouldn't have to explain.

a girl's period, is when her body flushs out her system, and its a good thing, cause then she knows she's not pregnant. its a nature thing in a woman's life some of the symptoms will be cramps, bloating, headaches, and she will be VERY moody

Buy her a booklet about it, let her read it, then have her ask any questions to a trusted female friend.

tell them exactly how it is if necasary! just say its a girl thing that everyone else goes through and tell her she will be ok! make her feel comfartable
