Yes you have use iTunes to put the music on your ipod. The songs that you want on your ipod make sure they have a check mark next to them and the songs that you don't want on there uncheck them. However you can have music on your computer already (like on Windows Media Player) but in order to get it on the ipod you have to convert the files from the other players to iTunes in order to get the songs on your ipod.

No, you don't need to use itunes to download music. If you already have the music on your computer, just go to "File" and then click on "Add file to library..". Then all you have to do is locate the file and it will be added to your ipod library. If you want to add music from a CD you already own, all you have to do is put it into your computer with iTunes open, and iTunes will ask you if you want to add the music to your library. Hope that helps!

No...I don't use iTunes all the time. Some music I just convert from Windows Media to play in iTunes and its works like a charm! and vice versa...I can get my iTunes downloads to play on Windows Media
