It is illegal to do both in america. Which i think is stupid, Because they are going to get cigarettes anyway. No matter what it takes.
All that does is make it a little more difficult for them to get it.

(im in america)

Yes it is. Curious and unusual if ridiculous things are observable in the smoking thing generally. Here in California in Carmel by the sea it is illegal to smoke ... on the beach! The claims for second hand smoke are ridiculous. As a boy I remember in N.Y.C. going to any restaurant where, if the extreme existed, there was a smoker's section. In the midwest, you can still light up in practically any restaurant. Note also where these ordinances originate from. Seeking to 'look good' legislatively where a longstanding freebooting history of corruption has become a widely known fact. " See? We're not corrupt. We got laws against smoking. " Yeah, right.

It depends on the state.

In Michigan, they changed the law a few years back and made it illegal for a minor to be in ANY possession of cigarettes.

Check your state's website and search on tobacco laws.

And don't start smoking, you have no idea how much you will regret it later.

Should imagine both!! Take it from a smoker who has tried with no success and 2 trips to a hypnotist - rather stop now when your probably not too addicted. It's not cool to smoke when you run out of breath by just walking up the road or break into phlegm-coughs after every time you get the flu!!

why are you smoking if you are a minor? we have laws for a reaon, it is because minors are not mature enough to make the decision not to smoke, instead they wanna be cool, choose to smoke, get lung ca 30 years later, and cost tax payers a lot of money before they inevitably die of lung related problems.

so...why don't you stop worrying about the legality of smoking and choose not to smoke.
