Ultrasound measures the length of the fetus (Head to tail bone) to determine the number of weeks. If it says 10 weeks, its usually 10 weeks +/- 1 week. Also, the actual fertilization should have occured 8 weeks ago. 10 weeks is the number of weeks after your last period.

During the first 12 weeks, fetus go under organogenesis(formation of organs) and all most all fetus will be about the same size. The growth occurs after 12 weeks, which is when the size of the babies differ from each other.

Hope this helps

When sonographers do an ultrasound they calculate the delivery date or gestation of the fetus by measuring baby from "crown to rump" (head to bum). It is only classed as an estimate as to how far along you are - but if the ultrasound is done between 6-12 wks it is usually more correct than if you have an U/S done before or after that period.

So if a doctor/sonographer tells you baby is measuring at 10wks, yes you are 10wks pregnant.

it means that ur baby's growth is at the average size for a 10 week pregnancy. ur probably around 10 weeks pregnant anyway (counted from 1st day of last period - lmp).

for some reason docs count the length of the pregnancy from the lmp, even tho u only fall pregnant on avg 2 weeks later. so 10 weeks pregnant means the baby has been inside u for about 8 weeks.

Pretty much. Ultrasounds at this point are much accurate with maybe a few days off. After about 15 weeks...the baby grows at a different rate. For example...I am 20 weeks and 5 days...but my baby is measuring in at 21 and 5 weeks...so one whole week bigger. hehe...he is actually in the 75%...so perfect!! Sometimes they will grow and then slow down, and then grow again!! Pretty much you are 10 weeks!!! Congrats..still a while to you feel him/her movin!!!!

no, that means that the baby is the size of a 10 week old fetus, u could be a few days either way. or it can mean that ur baby is growing at a slower or faster rate. the only way to know for sure the age of the baby is to know that exact time of conception.

Not in all cases. I have been measuring 3 weeks ahead my entire pregnancy. I am 37 weeks, went to the doctor this morning, baby is measuring at 40. Everyone is different though. Ask your doctor at your next apt. only she will be able to tell you.

I don't think so. In "pregnancy speak" all dates are from your LMP (last menstrual period). So, by the time you conceive, you're already 2 weeks pregnant ;-)
